Masindi is located approximately 217km from Kampala Capital City. The town is on the road between Kampala and the Murchison Falls National Park. The language spoken is Runyoro and the cultural leader is called Omukama, who has his main palace in Hoima Town.
The tourism growth in the neighboring Murchison falls National Park has greatly improved the economic growth of Masindi town with many hotels, lodges, banks, and other services set up around town to serve the large number of tourists heading to Uganda’s biggest National Park.
