Kasese town is ideally the main commercial center in the Kasese area. It is located in the western side of Uganda on the lower ranges of Mountain Rwenzori, the 3rd tallest mountain in Africa. Kasese lies north of Lake George.
About half of Queen Elizabeth National Park is found in Kasese district. The key tourism areas of the Park found in Kasese district include the Kazinga Channel, Lake George, Lake Edward, Katwe Salt Lake, Katwe explosion crater area, Lake Munyanyange, Mubuku and Kilembe mines. Key tourist activities include the game-drive tracks in the north of the Park, which are home to enormous numbers of kobs, statungas, water-hogs, elephants, buffalos and several families of lions and boat cruise on kazinga channel with the opportunity to see alot of wildlife and bird species.
